What if online incident reporting is not right for me?

What if this happened in another city? Can I file a report using this online reporting system?

No, if a crime took place outside of Addison please contact the appropriate police department or sheriff's office for that jurisdiction.

 

What if this happened on a highway or tollway?

If the incident happened on the Dallas North Tollway, contact the North Texas Tollway Authority Safety Operations Center by dialing #999. If the incident happened on another highway, contact the police department where the incident happened.

 

 

 

What is a "known suspect"?

A known suspect is when you (or someone else) knows the person, or where to find the person, who committed the crime.

 

What types of incidents can be reported online?

  • Burglary of Motor Vehicle - A person commits an offense if, without the effective consent of the owner, he breaks into or enters a vehicle or any part of a vehicle with intent to commit any felony or theft.
  • Credit/ Debit Card Abuse - A person uses the credit card or debit card of another person without the permission of the person the card is issued to.
  • Criminal Mischief - A person intentionally damages property belonging to another without the owner's permission.
  • Forgery - A person forges a writing with the intent to defraud or harm another person.
  • Graffiti - A person makes markings or symbols on property not belonging to him without permission of the owner of that property.
  • Harassment - Unwanted phone calls/text of an annoying, harassing or threatening nature.
  • Hit and Run - Leaving the scene of an accident without providing required license, insurance or vehicle information.
  • Identity Theft - The taking and use of someone else's personal identification information to obtain credit, goods or services.
  • Lost Property - Property that has been lost or misplaced.
  • Supplements - Need to add additional information to an existing report.
  • Theft - A person takes property belonging to another without the owner's permission. This does not include someone physically taking something from your person.
  • Theft of Mail - A person takes someone's mail or packages without the consent of the owner.
  • Theft of Service - A person obtains service without rendering proper payment for that service.
