The Addison Police Department operates 24/7, and no appointment is necessary to file a police report. You can come to the police department in person or call 972-450-7156 and arrange for an officer to contact you.
9-1-1 is appropriate for any life-threatening emergency, or to report a crime-in-progress. For non-emergencies, please use 972-450-7156.

Alarm permits are valid for one year. You can register your alarm at AddisonAlarmRegistration.com
You will receive three free false alarms in the preceding 12-month period but will be charged a fine for additional false alarms. If you do not register your alarm, you will be fined $100 for the first false alarm. If you register your system within 30 days of the violation, that fee will be waived.

Each false panic/robbery/hold-up alarm at a location will result in a $75 fee.
There are no free false panic/robbery/hold-up alarms.
If you operate an alarm system you will need a permit, even if the alarm is not monitored by an alarm company. You can register your alarm at AddisonAlarmRegistration.com
"A person who owns or exercises control over any dwelling or any business and who desires to operate an alarm system at the dwelling or the business shall obtain a permit to operate the alarm system from the chief of police."
You will not be charged for alarms resulting from criminal activity or other real emergencies.
